Seasonal Reflections

Reflecting on things.. it’s a good time of year to look back as the seasons shift. I’m wondering who else has been feeling the pull to stay home, to cocoon and think of hibernating? There’s a slowing, and that’s good…we all need periods of hibernation. In a world that doesn’t want us to stop, we have to find ways to take time out.

I loved listening to The Ffern podcast yesterday.. a gentle taste of nature for the senses. Read by Lia Leendertz, it was suggested to me by Spotify last year. Oh, does that computer know me well…it’s a soothing listen about seasonal changes in nature for the all the senses (with a healthy sprinkling of history, folklore and indigenous celtic / pagan cultural reference that I enjoy)

This time of year it can become hectic, finding time out to recharge - to simply just sit.. and do nothing.. is so important.

Here I am feeding the machine, but connecting too - thinking and looking back at my work - feeling content it’s almost all uploaded to my website. There’s a satisfaction in feeling that some things are finished ….Now I’m allowing ideas for 2024 to percolate…

If you don’t do it (yet) - can you find time each day this month to zone out? Savour the cup of tea or coffee? Listen to the trees or go outside to see the stars ..

Sounds so luxurious in world that doesn’t want us to stop. Doesn’t it?

🌱If you’re interested to reflect on this I highly recommend @lia_leendertz As The Season Turns Ffern podcast “December” and also @onbeing with Katherine May “How Wintering Replenishes”
